When ocean freight makes sense

Ocean freight is usually suitable for large-volume cargo, furniture, building materials, home goods, retail fixtures, FBA replenishment and shipments where cost control matters more than the fastest transit time. FCL is better when cargo volume is stable or damage control needs a dedicated container. LCL is useful for smaller shipments, but buyers should pay attention to consolidation, handling and destination charges.

Furniture and fragile cargo need a packing discussion

Furniture, mirrors and glass products should be reviewed before booking. Inner protection, outer carton strength, pallet or wooden frame, loading position and delivery handoff all affect the final damage rate. If the product can be disassembled, a knock-down plan may save container space and reduce pressure on large surfaces.

FBA is a different workflow

Amazon FBA shipments need label accuracy, carton compliance, appointment scheduling and delivery proof. A normal door-to-door plan may not be enough if the final warehouse has strict receiving rules.
